Top 10 places to play beach volleyball in the world

Welcome to paradise

From serving 1,050 metres above sea level surrounded by the longest chain of mountains in Europe, to diving in the secluded (after taking a 14-hour bus ride in Buddah country); not forgetting the overwhelming feeling it must be to spike in the place where the sport originated. Here are our top 10 picks of places to play beach volleyball in the world.

1. Waikiki Beach, Hawaii, USA

There’s no rush like the rush you get playing alongside active volcanos. It’s getting hot in here… is that ash I smell?

2. Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Yes, the Olympics did take place here which is a funny coincidence because Olympics sounds like Olympus (Home of the Gods) and in Rio, Jesus literally looks down upon you.

3. Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA

Did the photo not convince you? What about the fact that there is no winter here… EVER.

If you decide to live off fish caught with your bare hands, drink your homemade distilled water and live in a makeshift shelter made of palm tree branches – we’re with you.

If you haven’t been there yet, here’s your reason! Plus you get to say that you’ve been to Africa and win major exotic/interesting points.

8. Manly Beach, Australia

G’day Manly. You’ll probably just end up staying there, buying a house with accompanying white minivan or at least trying to – honestly, who wouldn’t want to wake up to that every day? *Shouting* ‘I’m coming STRAYA’

9. Satun, Thailand

If you give up beach volleyball to focus on enlightenment and cocktail mixing, again, we understand. Just imagine all the poetry waiting to be written on that swing.

10. Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver, Canada

The best part about Canada is Canadians and the Canadian accent and Justin Trudeau– but look at that view – the snow on the mountaintops sprinkled like icing sugar. You can #TakeMeThereThursday any day.

In short, there are amazing places located all over the world but we’ve chose ten. Seriously – you need to check these destinations off your bucket list.
