How the Swatch Major Series stars kill time
Four months waiting is a long time, especially when you are really looking forward to something. Following the excitement of the Fort Lauderdale Major it is now four long months until the Poreč Major in June.
However, beach volleyball players are very inventive. This week is time to celebrate carnival. Here’s a picture of Marleen Ramon-van Iersel with two of her friends all dressed up and smiling on the Dutch star’s Instagram page.

The tradition of ‘carnaval’ is also long-time custom in Brazil ever since the Portuguese brought it to South America in 1723.
In this Instagram post, Fort Lauderdale silver medalists Agatha and Duda joined in the Carnival fun – and got their coaching staff to dress up too!

Discovering new talents
Madeleine Meppelink also slipped into a new role: She and Jolien Sinnema liked it so much in Fort Lauderdale, they used their spare time to pose as Baywatch girls, pretending to be the new Dutch lifeguard crew!

Canada’s Sarah Pavan is entertaining herself with some indoor volleyball again – just like she does every winter. With her club in Shanghai, she qualified for the Play-off final to win the championship of the Chinese Women Volleyball League. However, she also had an eye on #FTLMajor. See you, soon, Sarah…
Following the @SwatchMajors #FTLMajor results makes me want to get back into the sand NOW! Can't wait to start competing on the beach again!
Meanwhile Barbara Seixas, who exited the Fort Lauderdale Major with new partner Fernanda to eventual winners Larissa/Talita, distracted herself with some tennis. The Brazilian Olympic silver medalist settled down to watch the ATP World Tour tournament in Rio de Janeiro.

Keeping with the Brazilian theme, Olympic champion Alison Cerutti posted a rather cool picture with the caption ‘my toys’. Is this the fastest way to travel to Poreč? Well, not from Brazil, Alison!

Carol Solberg and Maria Clara Salgado know how to use four months effectively… just look at the sisters from Brazil and compare it to our article eight months ago. They now have their own homemade weights to help them prepare for the Poreč Major!

But not all players end up lucky with their ideas. Olympic champ Laura Ludwig shows what happens if you take the ball away from her. Since December she has had to take a break following an operation on her shoulder – it meant she had to miss the Fort Lauderdale Major. So we can imagine her boyfriend, Morph Bowes, must be more than happy that she’s started practicing with the ball again last week judging by this post!
Good that I learned in the last years to always see the good in things that happen...I still have one mango left...I just do another Mango Lassi. Probably the best I've ever tasted😁😁😁 #eathealthy 😝
