Gstaad Major winners and entertainers Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak overcame a strong challenge from German home team Jonathan Erdmann and Armin Dollinger to storm into the quarterfinals with their second win at the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals presented by Vodafone.

The hosts took a shock first set lead against the consistent Poles, only for the 2016 Olympians to pull out all the stops to make it two wins from two and a place in the last eight of the tournament.

“It’s always good to win but especially against such a hard local team,” said Losiak afterwards. “We needed the first set after a slow start but we push them back on their serve and we finished well.

“The win is important as it gives us a day off to prepare for Saturday. We can rest and look towards the quarterfinals.

“It would be nice to play on Sunday but the gold medal match is a long way but we believe we can do it if we can focus.”
