An ecstatic and overjoyed Laura Ludwig revealed that her sublime smart Major Hamburg triumph ranks as one of the best achievements of her glittering career so far.

Together with partner Kira Walkenhorst, the German heroes were the darlings of the packed Rothenbaum crowd on Saturday as they banished their Brazilian superstars Agatha and Barbara on Center Court in a breathtaking final.

“It’s the equal highest point!” said Ludwig deliriously as she slurped some more celebratory champagne in the press room. “It’s level with our win in Shanghai which was our first Grand victory win on the FIVB Tour in 2013.

“Winning here in front of the home crowd is even more special, it’s definitely equal with Shanghai because it’s especially good to win in front of family and friends as it shows what we’re doing the whole year…It’s not partying, we do work hard!”

We never thought that for one minute, Laura…but we’re sure there was a big party taking place on Saturday night. After a performance like that you deserve it!

The question is now can they go on and repeat the feat in Poreč next month? There’s only one way to find out…by joining us!

See you in Croatia, girls!
